They combine industry expertise, professional services skills, and the ability to advocate on behalf of clients, candidates and the firm for the advancement of client and firm interests.

Ideal qualifications include at least 10 years of senior management experience in industry and/or in senior-level executive search; experience in consulting and/or working in a consultative role where multiple projects and competing demands are the norm; and proven business development ability, especially within the services sector, that has led to long-term relationships with clients/customers.

  • Associates -
    • Associates are integral members of search execution teams, combining research, consultative and advocacy skills to deliver extraordinary service to Spencer Stuart clients.

Associates partner with consultants on every search; specific tasks depend on the individual search but may include assisting with the development of strategy, constructing target lists of companies and candidates, coordinating internal and external research resources, contacting high-potential prospects, writing position specifications, conducting candidate interviews, completing progress reports, and documenting candidate qualifications and references. Additional business development, research and counseling activities may occur in support of specific client or general firm initiatives.

Outstanding associates will be considered for consultant positions over time.

Ideal experience includes a BA/BS from a top 25 undergraduate program (minimum 3.4 GPA) and at least two years’ experience in search, other consulting/professional services, or a research- and client-focused role at a leading company within one of Spencer Stuart’s industry areas.

  • Analysts -
    • Our analysts are active members of client service teams, gathering, synthesizing, and presenting information and data associated with client engagements and market opportunities.

At the beginning of each assignment, they assist in the development of the search strategy, including constructing company target lists, researching candidate profiles and matching necessary competencies to executive experience, drawing from internal, external and contracted resources.

As assignments progress, they may perform additional research in support of client team activities. Other responsibilities include directed projects to build internal knowledge of industries, companies and executives.

Analysts can be included on business development activities and are encouraged to develop in-depth knowledge of given industry sectors and/or functional specialties. This includes gaining awareness of current news and issues, developing a perspective on competitive landscapes, understanding market influences, tracking share performance and explaining relevant trends.

  • Executive Assistants -
    • The Executive Assistant (EA) is an integral member of the search execution team, acting as project manager to ensure the success of each assignment. The EA serves as the key contact with clients and candidates, schedules interviews, arranges consultant and candidate travel, ensures all due diligence has been conducted on candidates, reviews results, and flags issues. The EA performs administrative functions, as necessary, to assist the recruiting team, and oversees and ensures the accuracy of all client deliverables and candidate records.

Ideal experience includes five or more years of executive administrative assistant experience in a professional services environment. The ability to effectively solve problems and overcome challenges while consistently providing high-quality work is of utmost importance. The EA is proficient in all Microsoft applications and experienced at proofreading and editing documentation.
