Kathleen Tamayo is a core member of the North American Board Practice and leads board and executive recruitment and advisory engagements. She works with clients across all industry sectors but has specific expertise in the industrial markets, especially with highly engineered product manufacturers and suppliers. Additionally, Kathleen oversees the North American Board Practice operations.

Board and Executive search, human capital and economic consulting experience

  • Over the last decade at Spencer Stuart, Kathleen has worked with clients on a wide variety of executive-level search and board assignments. Her extensive experience includes independent director and C-suite executive roles and succession assignments for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), tier 1 suppliers, and service and technology organizations.
  • Kathleen began her career in the human capital practices at Arthur Andersen and Deloitte & Touche, providing consulting and analysis related to executive succession, taxation and compensation.
  • Prior to entering the world of search, Kathleen was an economic consultant with Huron Consulting Group and Chicago Partners. She developed extensive experience working with Fortune 100 clients in the areas of strategic planning, data modeling and litigation assessment.
  • Kathleen is a recipient of Spencer Stuart’s prestigious Lou Rieger Quality Award for her outstanding client service.

Kathleen earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Saint Mary’s College with honors. She received her M.B.A. from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business, where she focused on accounting, econometrics and managerial/organizational behavior. She serves on the board of directors of the Chicago Metamorphosis Orchestra Project.
