Guy was previously a senior client partner at another international executive search firm, where he was responsible for leading the consumer, financial services and technology sectors across Southern Africa. He began his career in executive search with another international firm, where he was a partner.

Before that, he was the CEO of Accelerate Cape Town, a business think tank that brings together the leaders of large corporations and other stakeholders to promote and drive the long-term development of the Cape Town city region. He has also worked for a number of large organisations on four different continents.

Guy is an experienced strategy consultant and sought-after professional keynote speaker, focusing on future trends, with a particular focus on South Africa and the African continent. He is also an experienced board member, having sat on the boards of several South African organisations.

He is the author of two books about South Africa and its future: South Africa: Reasons to Believe and South Africa 2014: The Story of our Future. In 2009, Guy was listed by Business Day newspaper as one of the "Top 100 Thinkers in South Africa".
Guy earned his Bachelor of Social Science and Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degrees in economics at the University of Cape Town, as well as a Master of Philosophy (Futures Studies) degree from Stellenbosch University, which he attained cum laude. He speaks English fluently, as well as Afrikaans and French.
